There are many shade trees along the walk on mostly lightly traveled streets. Walkers on the 10km route will see many deer (some are quite tame) in Blossom Park.

This portion of the Riverwalk passes the San Antonio Museum of Art, walking trails in Brackenridge Park near the San Antonio Zoo, and through the Pearl Brewery complex.

Using Riverwalk through the King William district, La Villita, HemisFair Park, the Institute of Texan Cultures, San Fernando Cathedral, and Mission San Antonio de Valero better known as "The Alamo".

This trail includes Lady Bird Johnson Park, Salado Creek Greenway trail and the Morningstar Boardwalk to McAllister Park.

The trail is a mostly shaded, paved walkway alongside Salado Creek on the Salado Creek Greenway passing through Los Patios and Tobin Park linear park.
