Event information

Hours are 6 am to 9 pm. The earliest settlers in this area followed Daniel Boone, who blazed a trail from the hills of Kentucky to the wilderness of east-central Missouri. In 1833 twelve German Catholic families arrived. The City of Washington was established on May 29, 1839 and grew with German immigration. Many of the early homes remain today. The 5k and the 10k walks explore two historic districts in this city also known as the Corncob Pipe Capital of the World. Some homes and buildings in these districts are listed in the National Record of Historic Places. All walkers will enjoy scenic views of the Missouri River. The 10k continues to some parks, follows a path around Lions Lake, and passes through a commercial and residential area to a former Busch brewery (on the NRHP list) before returning to historic and charming downtown with its many shops and restaurants.
