Event information

Hours (Sunrise to Sunset only): M-F 5am-9:30pm, Sat 7am-6pm, Sun 11am-6pm. Main entrance YMCA, start box is kept behind the main information desk--the staff will give the box to you upon request. YMCA staff doesn't have information. Checks payable to "GVG." Staff will not handle cash. Allow staff to wait on patrons first. Carry water on route. Restrooms available at the remote start point. Pets allowed with clean-up. Both routes begin in the 119 year-old Prospect Park on a groomed dirt path amid a beautiful variety of plants and trees. Winding upward through the park, several rest areas are provided with scenic overlooks on orange groves and the San Bernardino Valley. At the crest is the Alice Meeker Sewall Amphitheater, home of the Redlands Theater Festival. Continuing on, you'll come to the "Carriage House" where receptions and special events are held. Next, the trail leads to a short "side trip" to view one of the "Queens" of the Victorian houses of Redlands - the "French Chateau" style estate known as "Kimberley Crest". After you have enjoyed some concept of Victorian "royalty", the trail takes you on city streets, bridle paths, curbs and dirt paths through the heart of an area of Victorian, Edwardian and Craftsman architecture. As you return to Prospect Park, be sure to admire the "working" orange grove at the base of the park.
