Event comments
Charlie Fowble (1934-2012) learned of volkssporting as a mail carrier in Lynwood, Washington and was an avid participant for 22 years. Once retired, he traveled the USA in his RV to walk/bike as many YREs (Year Round Events) as he could, keeping a journal of each. He stopped traveling and joined the Sticks September 2006 and shortly thereafter developed 2 YREs that he could walk from his doorstep which he did daily for many years. In 2009 he walked/biked all the YREs in California and died in 2012 with 2 states shy of finishing up the Special Program booklet Walking the US (50 States). Event information
Restaurant open daily 6am-9pm; call for holiday hours. Ask at the counter for the Walk Box-it was last kept in the middle steel cabinet behind the right-side cash register. Get glimpses of the wonderful homes of West Laguna Lakeside circling the tranquil man-made lake and the bright and charming neighborhood of Laguna Stonelake that is alongside the levee encircling the Stonelakes National Wildlife Refuge. Take in the ambiance of this walk in the early morning or near dusk to get full enjoyment from this walk. This walk is a figure-8 with two equidistant 5k loops. It is a well hidden treasure. Ascending onto and traversing the levy on the southern loop may be difficult for wheelchairs. Water and restrooms at the start and along route.

McDonald's is on the left just past Harbour Point Dr. From SR 99 take Elk Grove Blvd exit and go west. McDonald's is on the right on the northeast corner of Elk Grove Blvd and Harbour Point Dr.
