William Winchester purchased approximately 167 acres of land called White's Level in 1754 which became known as the city of Winchester. The Maryland General Assembly later changed it to Westminster.

Physical Start Box Availability: 9am-10pm Daily. In the Jiffy Mart, the Start Box is located on the far right FRONT corner; box sits on the window sill. Trail is on city sidewalks & streets through the county seat of Carroll County. It passes the courthouse, historic homes & churches & goes through the McDaniel College campus. FYI: Church of the Ascension serves an All You Can Eat breakfast, from 7am-11am the first Saturday of most months. Address: 23 N. Court St, Westminster.
