The Flume Trail is listed as a National Recreation Trail. Placer gold was discovered near Rockerville in 1880. A flume was constructed to divert water from Spring Creek. There are 17.5 miles of canals and troughs.

how to get to the event

Driving to the start

Take Hwy 385 from Hill City to South Sheridan Lake Campground on the right. To through the entrance gate and follow signs for Flume Trail and Calumet Trailhead. Look for yellow volksmarch signs.
