Event information
M-F: 8:30-5;30; S-S: 9-5. Closed most holidays. Rated 2A. No wheelchairs, strollers difficult. Enjoy portions of the Urban Trail through the vibrant art-deco downtown and the ambience of a designated "All American City". Visit the restored Grove Arcade with shops and restaurants now in place to depict its original uniqueness as an indoor shopping mall back in the 1920s. Walk by the Thomas Wolfe Home where "Look Homeward Angel " was written and through downtown with it's eclectic vibe featuring local craft chocolates and breweries. Visit old neighborhoods of Asheville, and the new Greenway along Reed Creek. . Walk thru the historic Montford District with old homes and B&Bs. Stroll through Riverside Cemetery where O'Henry, Thomas Wolfe and Zebulon Vance are buried. Visitors Center "B" award available.

Driving to the start box
36 Montford Ave Asheville, NC 28801 828-258-6129 From the West on I-240, take Exit 4C, to Haywood St. Right on Haywood, and take next right on Montford. Vistior Center is large brick building on the left, immediately after you go over I-240, and thru stoplight. From the East on I-240, take Exit 4-C. Turn right on Montford and immediately left to the VC.
