M-SU: 9 - 5. Closed Thanksgiving & Christmas. Rated 3B. Not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Trail goes through attractive residential areas, and along a scenic lake path. You'll enjoy mountains vistas, stroll through the Rose Walk, and visit the Native Garden. "B" Award available. Alternate start point: t Bojangles-1119 Dellwood Rd. Waynesville 828-454-5584.

The Bethea Welcome center is closed. Some rest rooms are open. The alternate Start Point is open. (See below) Must ask for the walk box at the drive thru window. Alternate start point: Bojangles - If Bethea Welcome Center is closed, go back to Hwy 19, turn right and go a very short distance to Bojangles Restaurant on the left. Alt start point hours: 6am - 11pm.

Driving to the start box

Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center. 91 N Lakeshore Dr. Lake Junaluska, NC 28745 828-452-2881. FROM ASHEVILLE : I-40 West: Take exit 27on the right (Waynesville, Hwy 19-23-74). Then take exit 103 to the right for Hwy 19. Go past lake, and then quickly turn right at Main gate entrance to Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center (stone gateway). Quickly turn left into 2nd driveway for the Bethea Welcome Center. FROM TENNESSEE: I-40 East: Right on exit 20, (Maggie Valley Hwy 276). Left on Hwy-19/276 through traffic light (2.4 mi). Shortly past the Buttered Biscuit restaurant, turn left on N Lake Shore Dr. (see above).
