The walk is mostly on sidewalks. When walking along the street without sidewalk, please walk facing on-coming traffic. When approaching the desk for the Walk Box, please wait for a clerk who is free so as not to interfere with their functions. Since it is a hotel, they will be busy, especially first thing in the morning and in the late afternoon. The hotel restaurant is open for meals. Event information

Walk through part of old town McAllen, past upscale housing, along a very nice bike/hike trail, and through two city parks. In the hotel courtyard is a spectacular tree, the Kigelia pinnata, one of only two in the US.

Driving to the start box

101 N. Main ST, McAllen, TX 78501. FROM US-281 exit onto BUSINESS 83 and drive to Main ST. Turn RIGHT on Main ST, cross the railroad tracks and turn LEFT immediately into the hotel parking garage. Free parking on the 2nd and 3rd floor and an elevator will take you to the first floor lobby area. FROM US-83, take the 10th ST exit and drive to BUSINESS 83 and turn LEFT. Turn RIGHT on Main ST, cross the tracks and turn LEFT into the hotel parking garage. Open daily.
