Event comments

Rated 1 due to altitude of 6,200 ft. Wheelchair rating 1A. The trail starts with a 2K loop around Prospect Lake on a relatively flat paved path. There is a 5K and a 10K for this event. One time around the lake for the Functionally Disadvantaged trail (2K). The other two trails will take you past the Fallen Firefighters Memorial as well as the Deaf and Blind School. The 10K also takes you downtown to Uncle Wilber's musical fountain in Acacia Park (the oldest park in Colorado Springs), and the Pioneer's Museum. Restrooms (port-a-potties in the winter) are available at both playgrounds by the lake, Pioneer's Museum and at several fast food establishments downtown. County: El Paso

Driving to the start box

331 S Hancock-From I-25, exit 141, turn East on Cimarron. Drive .6 miles to Wahsatch, turn N (left). Drive 1 block to Costilla, turn E (right). Drive .9 miles to Hancock. 7-11 on corner. PLEASE DO NOT PARK AT 7-11 WHILE YOU WALK. PARK JUST EAST IN PAVED PARKING LOT AT WEST END OF LAKE.
