Long description
Comfort was settled in 1854 and is rich in German Heritage. A large portion of the downtown area is included in the National Register of Historic Places. The route passes the German-language Treur de Union Monument (True to the Union). It was dedicated on August 10, 1866 to commemorate those who died at the 1862 Nueces massacre. The remains of the deceased are buried at the site of the monument. The community has quaint shops, antique stores and various eating establishments. The 5K route includes the town area while the 10K portion also meanders along the shady Cypress Creek. Open Wednesday-Sunday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Closed on Monday & Tuesday.

Driving to the start box
726 High Street, Comfort, TX 78013. North on I-10. Take Exit 524. Continue to TX-27 and bear LEFT. Turn LEFT on 8th St, go 1 block and turn RIGHT on High St. South on I-10. Take Exit-523. Turn RIGHT onto US-87 South and bear RIGHT at the "Y". Turn LEFT to the stop sign and cross TX-27, go 1 block and turn RIGHT onto High St.
