Long description
This section of the Salado Creek Greenway is well shaded in most areas. Volksbikers will see limestone bluffs and trees typical of the Texas Hill Country. Wildlife and seasonal wildflowers may be present throughout the trail. Leon Creek is normally dry but can fill rapidly during heavy rains. The trail will be temporarily closed when flooded.

The Salado Creek Greenway is part of the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trail System, which is a growing network of developed multi-use and accessible trails. The Greenway consists of concrete and asphalt surfaces. This event uses the section of trail between Loop 1604 Trailhead and McAllister Park Trailhead. Much of the Salado Creek Greenway trail is within the Salado Creek flood plain with numerous creek crossings. The trail may briefly have standing water or mud afterwards in spots. The trail will be temporarily closed when flooded. Drinking water and restrooms are available at most trailheads.
