Event comments

Do not leave car in store lot - start box has a parking map. Walk box is gray plastic folder, ask cashier for it. The 13K route requires purchase of fare on Water Taxi and on Light Rail to return to start. Pets are not allowed on Water Taxi or on Light Rail. Water Taxi schedule is reduced in winter - check online with King County/Metro. Note that this is an urban walk in a busy sector of the city; it may be challenging for those walking with children. Can be hot in summer.

Event information

Known primarily as a commercial or industrial area, the SoDo district also includes Seattle's major sport stadiums, restaurants/clubs/wedding venues, the waterfront, and much public art. The 6 & 11K routes stay in the SoDo area while the 13K crosses to the Alki Trail in West Seattle for a trip on the West Seattle Water Taxi to cross Elliott Bay to the finish point at the Pioneer Square Station in downtown. 13K route requires purchase of Light Rail fare and Water Taxi fare to return to start point.

The detailed location of, and driving directions to, the event starting point are included in the event directions, downloaded from the Online Start Box (OSB). To plan your travels, please use the map on this page. The POC does not provide event directions nor accept alternate payment methods.


This event also has a physical start box. These are the driving directions:

2461 4th Ave. S., Seattle, 98134. From Light Rail disembark at SoDo Station, turn right onto Lander and walk one block to the Shell Station. Driving directions: From NB I-5: Take exit 161 (Swift/Albro). Turn left onto Swift Ave, and stay in right lane. After 1/2 mile road veers right and becomes 15th Ave. S. (passing high school on left). At traffic light, turn left onto Lucile and continue downhill. Turn right on Airport Way, continue for 2 miles. Turn left onto Lander and drive four blocks to the Shell Station on the right. From SB I-5: Take exit 163B and stay in far right lane for 6th Ave S. At end of ramp, turn right onto 6th Ave. After one block turn left onto Lander. Continue for two blocks to the Shell Station on the right. Metro: 124, 131/132; Sound Transit: 594, 595.
