Event information
Daylight hours only. Boat House is Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas. Gradual hills and a long steep down hill. Walk on road shoulders through this heavily wooded park. Abundant views of the Puget Sound and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Pass by the WPA constructed replica of Ft. Nisqually. Owen Beach, rose gardens, ponds, and many picnic areas. Cross the new Wilson Way footbridge onto the Dune Peninsula trail. Bring a camera. Strollers must be carried up a flight of stairs just after starting. .5 km trail does not pass Ft. Nisqually or major view points.

This event also has a physical start box. These are the driving directions:
5400 North Pearl. Directions: North or Southbound I-5: Exit 132 onto SR 16/Bremerton. Take 6th Ave exit, staying in middle lane. Continue straight through the first traffic light and merge to the right lane. Turn RIGHT at the second light onto N. Pearl Street. Follow N. Pearl St for 3 miles. At the end of Pearl St., follow signs at roundabout into Pt. Defiance Park. Once inside the park, merge to right lane. After a curve to the left, the lane turns right and drops down a hill toward the Waterfront. Park at the bottom of the hill, cross the street and enter the Boathouse Marina. Start Box is in a cabinet on the left by the last window. If parking lot is full, turn right and park in lot near the Ferry Terminal.
