Event comments

The Start Point for the physical start box is not currently open for walk-in business due to the COVID pandemic. Knock on door during posted business hours and ask for the start box. Alternately, you may register by using the Online Start Box (OSB), or by contacting Burt Paynter by email or telephone. If using the OSB to register for this event, follow the OSB instructions. The OSB provides the directions & map for the 5, 10, & 11 km routes only. If you wish to register for the 23 & 40 km routes, contact Burt Paynter as mentioned above.

Event information

Enjoy the ocean views & ambiance walking along the Discovery Trail and boardwalk at Long Beach. Follow in the footsteps of the Corps of Discovery (Lewis & Clark) to the place where Clark marked the arrival at their destination. Expand your hike into Cape Disappointment State Park to capture the views at 2 lighthouses, enjoy coastal forest trails, & visit the Lewis & Clark Interpretative Center. Routes for 5, 10, & 11 km are rated 1A. Route for 23 km is rated 2B. Route for 40 km is rated 3C.

This event also has a physical start box. These are the driving directions:

3914 Pacific Way, Seaview, WA. ALERT: This Start Point is not open to walk-in business due to the COVID pandemic. The normal business hours are 10 am to 4 pm Mon - Sat. See comments below for obtaining the start box during business hours. From I-5 in SW Washington, take Exit 39 (Kelso/Longview). Northbound turn LEFT. Southbound turn RIGHT. Follow signs to State Route (SR) 4 & continue west on SR 4. At Nacelle, continue straight on SR 4 a few miles to its intersection with US 101. Continue STRAIGHT to proceed south on US 101 into Seaview where it intersects with SR 103 (Pacific Way). Turn RIGHT onto Pacific Way, then take the first RIGHT into the Visitors Center parking lot. Visitors Center is at the corner of US 101 & SR 103.
