Event information

The walk is on the Barnes Canyon Trail, a hiking, biking, and horse trail. It is 4.7 miles (one-way) and begins at 4,006 feet altitude with a total elevation gain of 775 feet. It is an out and back trail marked with Carsonite signs. The trailhead is located 0.8 miles south of US Hwy 16A on Badger Clark Road (CSP Rd 9). Near the trailhead there is parking.

how to get to the event

Driving to the start box

Register at the Peter Norbeck Outdoor Recreation Center located 1/2 mile west of the Visitors Center in CSP. From Rapid City take Hwy 79 south to Hwy 36 and follow it to the park entrance gate. Continue west on Hwy 16A. A valid Park entrance license is required for all vehicles in the Park.
