Event information
The 5K walk consists of two loop trails, an out and back spur to an Overlook, and a short out and back from the paring area. This is a very scenic hike. The 10K walk is done by walking the 5K twice. Doing it in reverse will seem like an entirely different trail.

Driving to the start
From Rapid City take Hwy 44 west to junction of Hwy 385. Turn left (south). Go 2.8 miles to FSR 258 (Custer Gulch Rd.) just past the Pactola Visitor Center. Turn right. Go 1.4 miles to FSR 545 (Pactora Rd). Look for yellow Volksmarch signs directing you to the proper parking area and start point.
