Event information
Founded in 1682 by colonists from New Haven, CT, the Village of Greenport, with its deep-water harbor and later as the terminus of the Long Island Railroad, has always been a busy commercial center. Agriculture, whaling, fishing, ship building, and now tourism have guaranteed that Greenport has always been a bustling village. You'll see the harbor, historic buildings and homes, the Long Beach Bar "Bug" Lighthouse, Long Island's Camera Obscura (by appointment), and Greenport's Northrup Gruman Carousel, as well as an abundance of appealing shops and fine restaurants.
