Event comments

Please allow staff to wait on customers first. Restrooms at starting point and are available on walking route. There is a wide variation in weather during the year-- check the local weather before traveling to Big Bear, and dress appropriately. From Nov 1-Mar 31 most North Shore public facilities are closed for Bald Eagle nesting season, but lakeside trail can still be walked.

Event information

Start Point open 7am-11pm daily. Big Bear Lake is a four-seasons mountain community situated above 6700 ft elevation. Much of the lake's north shore is a sparsely developed area managed by the National Forest Service. There is a well-maintained paved bike and pedestrian trail ("Alpine Pedal Path") running from the east end of the lake to the locally renowned Solar Observatory. Adjacent to this trail is the Standfield Marsh wildlife preserve, with boardwalks over the water. 11K route includes the full length of the North Shore trail, and the Stanfield Marsh; the 5K route is fully wheelchair

Start point on right side of road past Alpine Slide. Limited parking at Start Point. Check highway road conditions first with CalTrans at 800-427-7623 or www.dot.ca.gov
