This is the 50th anniversary of the 1972 flood which killed 238 people in the Black Hills, Rapid City, and Keystone. The Keystone Chamber is commemorating with special events during the weekend. Find more information at VisitKeystoneSD.com

Event information

The walk will follow sidewalks in Old and New Keystone. The 10K will take Old Hill City Road to Kemps Kamp and walk past the 1880's train. Along the route are historical markers of the flood.

Driving to the start

The Watson Park Picnic Shelter, 1101 Madill St., is behind the Community Center on Hwy 40. Take Hwy 16 from Rapid City to Hwy 16A into Keystone. Make a left turn at the traffic light and go 1.4 miles on Hwy 40 to the Community Center on your right. Look for yellow Volksmarch signs
