Pacific Grove (remote start) is a charming seaside town sporting the Point Pinos Lighthouse, free-ranging deer, a Monarch Butterfly sanctuary, interesting eateries, and lovely coastline. Walk the first 5k route and grab dinner. Return to Monterey and be ready by 5:00pm to begin "Christmas in the Adobes" (5:00pm to 9:00pm). "Christmas in the Adobes" is Monterey's annual step back into the time of Spanish and early California history. Dinner options are found in Pacific Grove. The Adobe 5K goes to Fisherman's Wharf where additional food options can be found.

"Christmas in the Adobes" tickets are on sale (2021: $25/person) at www.mshpa.org. Get yours early, they always sell out. Start table is stamp and go. Drive to remote start in Pacific Grove for first 5K loop. Have an early dinner. Return to start table location (closes at 4pm, but you already have your map and stamp), park for adobe walk. Flashlight and warm clothing recommended for the evening.

Driving to the start
El Estero Park, 777 Pearl St, Monterey, CA 93940. Driving North on Highway 1, take the Aguajito Rd exit. Bottom of ramp, turn left. Go through two lights. Driving South on Highway 1, take the Monterey exit. At first light turn right onto Camino Aguajito.Both: Go to next STOP sign and go left on Pearl St./ Third St. (Street sign on right is Third St.) Park is on your right.
