Walk Box is at Information Desk in gift shop. The current complex of 18 acres contains ten buildings and is divided between areas of natural woodland and landscaped spaces adjacent to the historic buildings. "Lake Oolooteka" is an artificial pond named in honor of Sam Houston's adoptive Cherokee Indian father. The lake was constructed in the shape of the state of Texas by the W.P.A. in 1936. The stone fence surrounding the park on 19 Street was also constructed by the W.P. A. Closed on most major holidays.

Driving to the start box

1400 19th, 77340, 936-294-3671. From I-45 take exit 116: going SOUTH turn LEFT on 11th/HWY30/190E, going NORTH turn right on 11th. Turn right on Sam Houston, continue to 19th St. Turn right on 19th St to Steamboat House (on right) . Turn right, in front of Steamboat House to Gift Shop on the left.
