Claude is the County Seat of Armstrong County. The Courthouse dates to 1912. The population of Claude is around 2,000. The movies Hud, starring Paul Newman, Leap of Faith (Steve Martin, Debra Winger) and the closing scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade were filmed there. Armstrong County is home to the JA Ranch, the oldest cattle operation in the Texas Panhandle, founded by Charles Goodnight and George Adair in 1876. The Charles and Mary Ann Goodnight Ranch State Historic Site is 12 miles east of Claude on US-287 and the Goodnight Cemetery is also nearby. The walks include the Courthouse, the Armstrong County Museum, school, library, and neighborhoods.

The walk starts at the Armstrong County Courthouse, 101 Trice St. East- or westbound on US-287 in Claude, turn south on Goodnight St. and park on Goodnight on the east side of the Courthouse.There is a Cefco Travel Center 2 blocks northwest of the Courthouse on US-287. Free street parking is available around the Courthouse.The walks include the Courthouse, the Armstrong County Museum, school, library, and neighborhoods.
