Event information
Daily 7am-9pm (Must be off trail by sundown.) The walk winds through the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site, passing the Presidential Library-Museum, President Hoover's birthplace, the Hoover gravesite, a working replica of President Hoover's father's blacksmith shop, a restored Quaker meetinghouse and a one-room schoolhouse. It then proceeds through the town of West Branch, passing many Victorian homes and commercial buildings (16 of which are on the National Register of Historic Places). Part of the walk follows a hard surface rail trail, as well as a nature trail through Iowa prairie. S

Driving to the start box
115 E Main - West Branch is 10 miles E of Iowa City. From I-80, take Exit 254. Drive N 1/2 mile, turn left to parking lot of Herbert Hoover Visitors Center. From parking lot, walk 1 block N to Dewey's Jack and Jill Store. Ask for walk box at checkout/service counter in SE corner of store.
