Event comments
In the 1930's Owen and Louise Young were among a group of wealthy individuals who established winter residences in FL. They established beautiful gardens and a home along the Mantanzas River. Before her death, Mrs. Young donated the property to the State of FL and stipulated that the gardens be maintained for the enjoyment of the public. The Washington Oaks Garden State Park includes this property along with coquina rock formations on the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean. Your walk will also explore Bing's Landing which houses the archeological dig of the Mala Compra Plantation. Visitors can walk along an elevated boardwalk around the perimeter of the plantation remains and read interpretive displays.
