Event comments
The Agate Fossil Bed National Monument Visitor's Center is open daily 9-5 MT May 14-Sep 30 Summer Hours, 8-4 MT Oct. 1-May 13 Winter Hours. Closed New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Xmas. Trails are available sunup to sundown year round. There is no fee charged at this National Monument. Do note that this is rattlesnake country and there is little shade. Bring plenty of fluids and watch where you step. The Visitor Center has restrooms available when open.

Event information
You will drive approximately 65 miles to the walk start. Great views of the sweeping plains and the Niobrara valley as well as fossil dig sites. The 5 k trail is paved or boardwalk leading to fossil exhibits and is wheel chair and stroller friendly. The 10 K trail also follows a dirt trail to the Bone Cabin and along gravel country road. Both are out and back trails on high plains mixed grass prairie.

Chadron Chamber of Commerce, 706 W. 3rd St., Chadron, NE Take Hwy 20 into Chadron. The Chamber of Commerce will be north of Hwy 20 on 3rd St. Hours are-Memorial Day to Labor Day: Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Rest of the Year: Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
