Event information
Open year round, rated 3C. Not suited for strollers/wheelchairs. Admission required for house and gardens. Completed in 1895, George Vanderbilt's 250 room chateau is impressive. Biltmore House is truly a wonder of architecture and hospitality. Enjoy a self-guided tour of the house as well as the beautiful gardens and surrounding grounds, designed by renowned landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted. Stroll through manicured gardens, newly renovated conservatory and along paths and trails not normally seen by visitors. Water and camera are musts. Trail shoes or hiking boots are recommended and a walking stick would help. Carry a snack and water. For an additional 2 km, walk through 250 room chateau. No pets allowed in the house. A short video and 3D Diorama of the Estate grounds available at the registration area. Restrooms at registration or at beginning and end of the walk. No restrooms in the house. Driving to the start box
Daily, 9-5. 800-624-1575. From I-40, take exit 50 toward Asheville (north). Go three blocks (follow signs to Biltmore Estate), bear left and then turn left into Estate. Go through gatehouse and follow signs to Reception & Ticketing Center. Ask for "Walk Box" at Ticket Counter. Register, stamp books (difficult to return after walk) and drive to parking lots for visiting the house. Walk or take shuttle to START POINT which is in front of the house.
