Event information
Start/Finish during daylight hours only! This walk will take you through world-renown Squaw Valley near Lake Tahoe. Squaw Valley, also known as Olympic Valley, was the site for the 1960 Winter Olympics. This walk is one of a kind with 360 degree views of mountains (and some volcanoes). From the starting point, walk through the Village area, then on to view the historic Squaw Valley Chapel, one of 3 buildings remaining from the Olympics. Thereafter, you will walk along the valley floor, (6200' elevation) mostly on paved bike/walking paths that include views of the golf course, the hotel across the meadow named the Resort At Squaw Creek, and many mountain homes. 10k walkers will view the "Tower of Nations" used in 1960, displaying the replica of the eternal Olympic flame. Snow/ice will cancel this event.
