Event comments

Restrooms may be available at the turnaround points on the New Santa Fe Trail. The route provides excellent views of Monument Valley and the Rampart Range. The New Santa Fe Trail is rated 2B. The New Santa Fe trail is not particularly suited for small wheeled strollers because of the gravel surface. Please consider the fire danger before smoking. Pets must be leashed and cleaned up after. This is a combination walking, biking and horse trail. Carrying water and sunscreen is recommended. Water and restrooms available at the Safeway Start/Finish. Please allow 2+ hours to enjoy the walk. Walk elevation is 6961 feet above sea level with some elevation changes. If you live at a lower altitude our events will seem more difficult. Driving to the start box
624 Highway 105. MONUMENT, COLORADO 20 miles N of Colorado Springs, 40 miles S of Denver on I-25. S I-25 (to Colorado Springs) exit 161 (Hwy 105). Ramp will loop around to N. Continue through light approx 1/2 mile past fast food to SAFEWAY store on right. N I-25 (to Denver) exit 161. At end of ramp turn left (W) to mountains. Cross over bridge, turn right at light (Hwy 105). Follow approx 1/2 mile past fast food to SAFEWAY store on right. After registration, drive approx 1/4 mile to start point at New Santa Fe Trail.
