Event comments

The additional hike to Yakutania Point is rated 2C for the final forested 100 yard trail with roots and rock steps. To Smugglers' Cove from Yakutania Point the trail is a 2C for the entire 2k addition. If arriving by cruise ship, add the distance from your cruise ship terminal to the start. The additional distance to the Point and Cove is not accessible to any strollers.

Event information

Walk through the historic district of town to the Gold Rush Cemetery and on to Lower Reid Falls via a short forest trail with some roots and rocks behind the cemetery with an elevation gain of 50 ft and return to the Klondike Gold Rush Visitors Center for an 8k route. The 5k does not go to the cemetery or falls and has limited wheelchair accessibility. An additional hike to the SW of town goes to Yakutania Point picnic shelter for views of the Lynn Canal toward the Chilkat Mountains, makes it 10k. Continue on through mixed coastal forest to peaceful Smugglers Cove for 12k.
