Event information
Start point is 15 miles west of Salem. Start point also for Independence YRE. Walk goes through this small college town's historic downtown, Western Oregon Univ & residential areas (older on 5K & newer on 10K). The 5K route starts in downtown Monmouth, 1 1/2 miles west with driving directions on the 5K directions. 10K starts from Hi-School Pharmacy. No restroom at start point but a McDonald's nearby. Two other nearby YREs: Dallas (10 miles NW) & McMinnville (28 miles north).

This event also has a physical start box. These are the driving directions:
1357 Monmouth St, Independence, OR, (503)838-2047. FROM I-5, exit 253 to Salem City Center. Follow signs to OR22 West. Right lane on Front St to ramp up to cross bridge; 5 1/2 miles on OR22 before left on OR51 South to Independence. Right on Monmouth St to Central Plaza Center at 13 St on left. FROM 99W east on Main St at traffic light in Monmouth to go to Independence. Right at 2nd traffic light at Gun Club Rd (by McDonald's) to Start Point. Ask for zippered binder at the registers.
