Event comments
Pleasant Valley Rock School House was erected in 1873 using rock that was quarried near the school site. By 1905 there were 31 students enrolled in this small school house. The school closed in 1956. In 2013, exactly 140 years after the school was built, a small group of alumni decided to renovate the school. Many items were donated including the genuine slate blackboard, a set pull down maps, 48-star flags, a coal and wood stove and the Regulator clock and teacher's desk that were originally from the Pleasant Valley School.

Event information
Help celebrate this one room schoolhouse's 150th anniversary by walking the route many children walked to and from school on the day before the traditional school year started. Lunch will be available with beer and brats, water, and polka music in beer tent. Walking sticks and bug spray recommended. $3 fee for all walkers

Driving to the start
From Hwy 75: Hwy 75 to Hwy 4. West on Hwy 4 approximately 13 miles. Left (south) on first road after crossing railroad bridge (5th St.-gravel road, not marked). At T intersection, turn left (e) on Vine St.-not marked. # Vine St. curves south then turns west. A short way after road turns west and crossing railroad tracks, turn left (s) on Railroad Dr. Continue on Railroad Dr. with railroad tracks on your left and keeping left for 3.7 miles. School will be on your right.From Hwy 50:Hwy 50 turns east onto Hwy 4. Continue on Hwy 4 which winds east then south around Table Rock. Hwy 4 turns east at T intersection in town. Follow Hwy 4 to Vine St. (gravel road on your right). Right (s) on Vine St. then follow directions from # above.
