Event information
Daniel Boone blazed a trail from the hills of Kentucky to the wilderness of east-central Missouri, arriving around 1800. German Catholic families came in 1833, and the city to this day reflects its German heritage. Many early homes remain, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Washington is also known as the Corncob Pipe Capital of the World. Tours of the factory are available, but call first for the dates and times. Walkers enjoy scenic views of the Missouri River on both routes. The 10k continues to some parks and passes through a commercial and residential area.
