Event comments

The 11K walk goes through two conservation areas and a county park. The 5K walk goes through one conservation area and the county park. There are some significant hills on the 5K nature trails. NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED ON THE CONSERVATION CENTER NATURE TRAILS.On April 8, "Eclipse Day" parking will be available in the large SportsPlex parking lot, Cape's official viewing area. Food trucks will be available. The SportsPlex lot will be crowded if it's a sunny day, so plan to get there early on April 8 if the forecast is a good one. Be sure to bring a lawn chair and new eclipse glasses. Cape Girardeau is almost in the exact center of the eclipse path and has one of the longest viewing windows in the US: 4 minutes, 6 seconds. The eclipse begins at 12:40 pm and peaks at 2 pm. After you walk, buy a lunch and relax in your lawn chair, ready to watch the eclipse. Be sure to wear your eclipse glasses!
