Event comments

Qualifies for Forest and Railroad trails and Rails-To-Trails. This walk takes place almost entirely on wooded trails that are part of the Port Ludlow trail system and features a new section of trail just completed in 2024. The McCormick Trail is a new trail converted from an old railroad bed that was used to transfer logs during the logging days of Port Ludlow. The 5K is a loop that features the new McCormick Trail (one way) and portions of the Timberton Trail. There is one (not steep) hill coming up from parking. The 10K includes covers the same ground as the 5K but includes the entire Timberton Loop along with the new McCormick Trail. The McCormick Trail section is mostly flat with a few gentle rolls and it's wooded. It runs along a stream for a while with a nice viewpoint. The Timberton Loop is a Port Ludlow classic hike that goes up to a viewpoint and uses old logging roads (no cars) and narrower trails.Note that the trail may be muddy if it's been rainy and there are several climbs on the 10K, but overall it's a fairly easy hike.
