Event comments

The PCT trail starts at Stevens Pass at 4100' with a 1200' elevation gain. The trail is mostly in second growth timber that partially opens up in subalpine meadows close to the lake. The trail begins on an old overgrown logging/maintenance road that parallels the highway for about 2.5km. You hike around Skyline Ridge with its views to the east. As the trail heads west up the Nason Creek drainage, views open up of the local peaks in the area. Then the trail gets slightly steeper and you'll get a view of Lichtenberg Mountain as you go through an open boulder field at about 3.7k. A series of switchbacks climbs up to some open subalpine meadows and the spur trail which leads down a short way to the crystal clear waters of Lake Valhalla which is set in a beautiful cirque-like bowl below Lichtenberg Mt. This is a wilderness hike so take the 10 essentials with you.
