Event comments

This 5k/10k walk celebrates the return of the Otter to the Rappahannock River which flows by the historic City of Fredericksburg. The walk begins in historic downtown and will take you meandering through city streets to visit 7 bronze "otter" statues scattered across a 5k route on paved sidewalks. You'll pass many historic sites as well. The bronze otter statues were created & cast at a local foundry and is included in the 5k route. The 10k portion of the walk takes you through parts of the Alum Spring Park, a 34 acre woodland retreat and an official Rails-to-Trails site. There is an "A" award for this walk - an adorable otter patch ($5.00)---This route also includes seeing a historic "grain elevator" built in 1919, which qualifies for the new special program "Grain Elevators: Monarchs of the Plains." Here is its own youtube video by the City of Fxbg:https://youtu.be/4ihnmT0n6ec?feature=shared ...............It was recently re-painted and can be seen from afar: https://youtu.be/houCsouZPYg?feature=shared
