Event comments

Ponce Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in Florida and visitors may climb the 203 steps to the observation deck for an awesome view of the area (small admission fee at both the lighthouse with museum and for the separate Marine Science Center). No dogs allowed on beach.

Event information

Memorial Day to Labor Day 10-7; Labor Day to Memorial Day 10-6. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas. Check their website to confirm hours of operation, Trail rated 1C, not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs due to beach sand; an alternate route is available. Walk is on a long section of hard packed sand, in addition to designated scenic routes and lovely residential neighborhoods, Lighthouse Point County Park, nature trails, and the Marine Science Center with its seabird and sea turtle rehabilitation activities.

This event also has a physical start box. These are the driving directions:

4931 S. Peninsula Dr. From I-95 take Exit 256. Drive east on Dunlawton Ave.(SR421). Cross Intracoastal Waterway to S. Atlantic Ave (Hwy A1A) approximately 5.2 miles. Right on S. Atlantic Ave and drive approximately 5.3 miles to Beach St. Right on Beach St then one block to S. Peninsula. Left approximately 3/10 of a mile to parking lot at Lighthouse Park and Gift Shop. Ask Gift Shop staff for the Walk Box.
