Event comments
If using convention bus on Thurs/Fri, May 1-2, then please cooperate with your bus 'hostess' and maintain the schedule set by them. Hour drive from Las Cruces.Stop at 2 short trails then continue to end of park road to the Alkili Flats Trail. Although 5 miles long, takes 4-5 hours as it's '2 steps forward, 1 step back'. Hike as far as you want. Trail marked by posts in the sand. Do not stray from a post until you can see the next one. Use mapping device if possible.

No food available in the park. Bring your own snacks and water. If driving yourself, vehicle entry fee (free with National Park Pass), then you can spend as much time and hike as you want.

Driving to the start
19955 Hwy 70 West. From Alamogordo, take US-70 west toward Las Crucs to the visitor center on the north side of the highway, approximately 15 miles from Alamogordo and 55 miles east of Las Crucs.Register at convention center
