Event comments
This walk will explore the woodlands and restored prairie grasslands of Holy Wisdom Monastery including a secluded, several thousand-year-old glacial lake, and pass through a section of the new Communities of Bishops Bay development. Beginning as a girl's high school in 1952, the land became a ecumenical retreat and conference center in 1966. The most recently constructed sanctuary at the monastery expects to be net-zero energy by the end of 2024, producing 100% of its energy needs onsite from renewable resources. This will make Holy Wisdom the first net-zero energy retreat center in Wisconsin.
