Event comments

There will be a 5K trail, rated 1A and a continuous 10K trail, rated 2A. The trails will consist of walking paths, sidewalks, roadways, and indoor flooring. No problems for strollers and wagons, but wheelchairs will have difficulty, especially on the 10K trail. Both trails will incorporate the National Museum of the United States Air Force, that is hosting a special Star Wars display during the time of the walk. OWF will revisit our inaugural walk held in 1978, covering some of the same trails. And as a club founded by members of the military, we enjoy honoring our Veterans and what better way to do so than walk through the Memorial Garden at the USAF Museum and the wonderful four hangers of displays and artifacts. We will also celebrate the AVA's 50th Anniversary with cake at the finish area.

ALL participants must pay $4.00. Free parking near the start/hotel. Pre-registration DEADLINE is October 30th, 2026.There are rooms available at the Comfort Suites Dayton-Wright Patterson, for $109 + tax per night. Call the hotel directly at 937-425-6498. You can reserve either a King or 2 Queen room for the same price. Please mention "AVA 50th Anniversary" for the discounted rate. *Please note - DEADLINE for cancelling a reservation is October 30th, rather than 24 hours prior to event.

Driving to the start

Comfort Suites Dayton-Wright Patterson, 5220 Huberville Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45431. From I-75 North or South: Exit at Needmore Rd, from north, turn left and from south, turn right and follow Needmore Rd, which becomes Harshman Rd at Brandt Pike traffic light. Proceed straight on Harshman Rd to the Springfield St exit (watch for the AF Museum signs). On the exit ramp, bear to the right onto Springfield St. Just past the traffic light, the Comfort Suites will be on your left and the entrance is just a short ways down the street on your left. From I-70 East or West: Exit at State Route 4 southbound and follow to the Harshman Rd exit. Turn left at the traffic light at the bottom of the ramp and merge into the right hand lane. Proceed straight on Harshman Rd to Springfield St exit & see above.
