Lake Whatcom Trail (also known as the Hertz Trail) is a former railroad bed located in a completely wooded area with great views along the north shore of Lake Whatcom. Parking lots for general public and special needs people at trailhead. The trail is prepared and maintained on a gravel base. Ideal for walkers using walking poles. Restroom available at start/finish only. 10K route qualifies for AVA Rails to Trails Challenge.Walk thru different stages of forest on a well maintained trail, some wooden bridges, moderate switchbacks and view at the top of Lake Whatcom.

Event information

This walk has four options: 5k=1B, 8k=3B 10K =1B and 11k =3B. Parking available at Lake Whatcom Trailhead (also known as Hertz Trail). Porta Pottie available at start and finish.

This event also has a physical start box. These are the driving directions:

Walk Box Location: 2900 Woburn. From South or North, take: I-5 Exit 255 for Rt542/Sunset Dr. After exit, northbound turn right; southbound turn left onto Sunset Drive. Proceed 4-5 blocks. At Woburn Avenue, turn right and go a few blocks to Haggen. Note: This is a remote start and after you register, you will drive to the trailhead. Driving directions are included with walk directions. Open 6am - 11pm daily.
