Event comments
Trails are heavily forested with roots and rocks, so bring hiking poles if you need them for rough terrain. Elevation gain is 200 feet from shore to ridge line. 5 km trail takes you past a picturesque tobacco barn and winds along the shore, crossing to Turtle Island, which you circle around! 10km trail follows the 5 km, but also does an "out-and-back" on Chestnut Ridge where chestnut trees have been re-introduced. State Park: $7 per vehicle entrance fee. Pay at Front Gate or Visitor Center before driving to start point at the Discovery Center.
