Event comments

This out and back walk along the heavily shaded Brushy Creek Regional Trail is on cement, crushed granite and dirt paths, with turnaround points to give walkers a choice of 6k/10k/15k routes. The route stays on the Brushy Creek Regional Trail and in park areas along the creek. The Brushy Creek YRE is the most nature-filled YRE in the Austin area, with no commercial or residential build up. It is the most scenic walk, with parks, lakes, creeks, bridges, and hills. It is abundant with wildlife of all descriptions and plants, trees, and flowers. It includes historic railroad tracks, historical markers and a meditation labyrinth. If you love nature, the three distances will be a memorable walk, you will want to repeat away from the noise and traffic of Austin, yet close by. Please note that the labyrinth is on the walk route for the 10k and 15k walkers only. 6k walkers may drive the 3.5 mile distance from the YMCA to view the labyrinth as follows: L on Little Elm Trl, R on US 183 Svc Rd, R on Cypress Creek Rd (becomes Brushy Creek Rd), R into Brushy Creek Lake Park entrance.
