Experience an easy, scenic bike ride along the York Heritage Rail Trail, starting at Hanover Junction and heading south to the Mason-Dixon Line before looping back. This route passes through charming York County towns, each with unique character and rich history.Hanover Junction, a key 19th-century railroad hub, features a restored station reflecting its historic importance. Glen Rock is a friendly town surrounded by farmland and forests, known for its quiet charm. Railroad, true to its name, offers vintage buildings and peaceful neighborhoods rooted in rail history.Further south, New Freedom blends history with modern life, boasting a lively main street with shops and eateries. It also celebrates its railroading heritage through museums and events tied to the Northern Central Railway.On weekends, enjoy the sights and sounds of vintage trains on the Northern Central Railway excursion line, adding nostalgia to your ride. The smooth, mostly flat trail follows former rail lines and offers peaceful views of forests, farmland, and small townsperfect for all skill levels.Whether local or visitor, this ride connects you to York County's history, culture, and natural beauty, making for a memorable adventure.

Event information
The walk box is on the Perry Dell front porch, under a bench, and is accessible at all times. Participants are required to wear a bicycle helmet. There are restrooms at Hanover Junction and New Freedom. The York Heritage Rail Trail has a hard packed fine gravel surface. Recommend use of a hybrid bicycle although road and mountain bicycles are often seen on the trail.

90 Indian Rock Dam Rd., York, PA17403 (717)741-3485. From north or south take I-83 to exit 14, the Leaders Heights exit. Turn left off ramp if coming from south, right if coming from north, onto Leaders Heights Rd., PA 182. West: proceed to S. George St (the road name changes to Indian Rock Dam Rd). Proceed on Indian Rock Dam Road. The Farm Store is then a half mile on the left.
