This easy walk on the York Heritage Rail Trail travels through peaceful rural landscapes from Glen Rock south to the borough of Railroad and back. Glen Rock, founded in the 1830s, grew around local mills and became a bustling stop on the Northern Central Railway, known for its tight-knit community and scenic setting. The route continues to Railroad, a small town incorporated in 1871 and named for its role as a key station along the rail line. Today, Railroad retains its historic charm with vintage buildings and quiet streets. This section of the trail offers a relaxing stroll steeped in small-town history and countryside beauty.

Event information
Walk box on front porch, under bench, accessible at all times. Walk from dawn to dusk. There are no port-a-johns at the trailhead at Glen Rock. There are restrooms in the Glen Rock library and Mamma's Pizza (customers only).

Driving to the start box
90 Indian Rock Dam Rd., York, PA17403 (717)741-3485. From north or south take I-83 to exit 14, the Leaders Heights exit. Turn left off ramp if coming from south, right if coming from north, onto Leaders Heights Rd., PA 182. West: proceed to S. George St (the road name changes to Indian Rock Dam Rd). Proceed on Indian Rock Dam Road. The Farm Store is then a half mile on the left.
