This special 2nd Annual Weihnachten 5k is dedicated to the 50th Anniversary of the AVA. This Christmas Lights Evening Walk will be enjoyable for the whole family and will have an extensive prize drawing at the end for all registered walkers! Alpine Helen, Georgia is the third largest tourist destination in the state, with visitors arriving from all over the South East and across the nation. A detailed listing of all the wonderful things to see and do here will be provided. Helen has a huge annual Xmas celebration, including a Christmas market, extensive displays, and an extensive Christmas lighting display that people come from all over the SE to see and enjoy. Also, Alpine Helen attracts many visitors throughout the area for walking, hiking, waterfalls, etc and wonderful German Style food and entertainment 12 months of every year. Due to the Christmas holidays, we recommend you book a room in Helen early. Our host, The Loreley Resort (706.878.2238), can assist you and has a listing of the available lodging suites located near Loreley starting area for the 5K Weihnachten (Christmas lights) night walk in beautifully lit up Alpine Helen.....Please bring a flashlight as this walk area is in the evening (NIGHT HOURS) when the lighting is most brilliant!!NOTE: Due to Christmas holiday season and demand for lodging already starting grow, the ALPINE HELEN VOLKSMARCH CLUB (AHVC) HIGHLY RECOMMENDS YOU BOOK EARLY TO ASSURE YOU HAVE LODGING AND PARKING SET UP FOR ATTENDING THE WEIHNACHTEN 5K CHRISTMAS LIGHTS NIGHT WALK. The is an evening 5k easy (1A) WALK thru beautiful Helen, Georgia at the height of the Christmas Season, when the entire City is lighted and decorated in full "Weihnachten" (German for Christmas) fare. This is our Second Annual Walk and it promises to be a fantastic event. Registration Fee is $4.00 and (optional) "A" Award will be available (Only $5.00 Santa 2026 Logo) showing a hiking Santa with walking stick. We will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the AVA, so this will be a very special walk and program that will be something you would not want to miss!

Driving to the start

Loreley Resort is located on 387 Brucken Strasse, in Helen, Georgia. From Atlanta, take 400 north to the end and continue straight on to GA Hwy 115. Take a left and proceed to Cleveland, GA. Then take Helen Highway approximately 10 miles to Helen, Ga. At City limits sign, take the next right turn and proceed to Brucken Strasse and Loreley is on the left (see AVA WALK Signs to Registration at Clubhouse). There is limited parking and lodging at the Loreley Resort (Reservations Office 706-878-2238 or www.loreleyresort.com) and plenty of xtra "hotel/motel availability" (contact Helen Welcome Center for discounts/details @ 800-858-8027) and lots of additional "paid parking for $5.00-10.00 max) in easy walking distance of the start area if you are not staying at a local Helen lodging facility.
