Event comments

This walk is co-chaired by Judy Koonce and Ed Hainline.The best viewing of the combined fleets will be at 4:30pm, so it is best you get to the RiverPlace Marina area before then. Suggest you plan to leave the start location (Tiny's Coffee House) no later than 4:00pm. The ships (boats) will depart from the RiverPlace Marina as close to 4:30pm as possible and head south towards Lake Oswego going under the Tilikum Crossing Bridge. Bring a flashlight and umbrella to carry with you. AVA: Centurion/50 States.You can register between 3:00pm and 4:30pm, this is the start time for the event only. While you are registering you will finalize your process (to include your walking record books if you have them) during this time since there "will not be a Finish Time". There will be written instructions & maps to use for this walk as there will not be a "group leader" for either route, unless you and others form your own group. There will not be any arrows or marking ribbons for this walk. Participation Fee is $4.00. Guest walkers are invited and encouraged to participate with this walking event. Dogs are not allowed in the start location building, they are allowed on the walk. Cleanup rules apply. Donations are very much appreciated to help with expenses of this walking event.

Event information

Walk on pavement along the WIllamette River, crossing the river using the Tilicum Crossing Bridge and returning on the Hawthorne Bridge for viewing of the Christmas Ships parade. Both the Columbia River and Willamette River Ship Fleets will be in the area for viewing. The combined fleets are scheduled to depart Riverplace Marina at 4:30pm and go to Lake Oswego by the George Rogers Park area. They are expected to return to the Riverplace Marina around 8:00pm. There will be a Meet & Greet with some of the captains starting at 8pm for those interested in going down to the pier and seeing the ship

Driving to the start

1412 SE 12th Avenue, Portland, Oregon I-5 South: Exit 300B to SE Belmont St. Continue on SE Belmont St to SE 12th Ave. Left on SE 12th Ave. Cross SE Hawthorne. At the corner of SE Hawthorne & SE 12th on the Right is Tiny's Coffee House. Make sure you enter the correct entrance door. I-5 North: Exit 300 - Keep Right, following signs to Central Eastside Industrial District. Right on SE Water. Left (in one block) on SE Taylor St to SE 12th Ave. Left on SE 12th Ave. Follow remaining instructions above to Tiny's Coffee House, will be on your Right. On street parking is "Very Limited", you may have to walk a few blocks to get to the start location.There are other ways to get to this walk location other than those above. Suggest you look at the best way to get there from your location.
