Event comments
This is the club's 2d "traveling guided" walk of 2026. We'll all do the 5K route inside the preserve first, and then the 10Kers will complete their walk in the neighborhoods near the preserve. Good walking shoes, trails shoes, or sneakers are a must. We recommend all participants wear a hat and sunscreen and carry water. Lyonia Preserve is a joint project of Volusia County, the Volusia County School Board and the State of Florida to provide environmental education to the public and restore and maintain habitat for scrub-dependent species, including the threatened scrub jay and gopher tortoise. The preserve, named after the scrub plant rusty lyonia, consists of 360 acres of restored Florida scrub habitat.

Event information
This will be a GUIDED walk only, so arrive between 8:30 - 9:00 AM. Groups will depart at 9:00 AM. The preserve itself is rated 2C with some soft sand or dirt trails, and small inclines up & down throughout the preserve.There is a $4.00 (cash or check) fee covering administrative costs for the event and for the AVA/IVV event stamp used to sanction/record the event. No refunds are provided after the start of the walk.

Driving to the start
Lyonia Environmental Center - 2150 Eustace Ave, Deltona, FL 32725 From I-4, take exit 114 Deltona/Debary and exit towards Deltona (south) on FL 472 (Howland Blvd.) Drive 2.3 miles on Howland, to Providence Blvd., then turn right for 0.7 miles to Eustace Ave. Turn right on Eustace, and then move immediately into the left turn lane and turn left into the center.
