Event comments

Watkins Mill is a preserved woolen mill dating to the mid-19th century. It was designated a National Historic Landmark and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1966 in recognition for its remarkable state of preservation. The historic site is the centerpiece of Watkins Mill State Park, which is managed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. The paved trail circles a 100-acre lake and takes the walker through some scenic wooded areas. As you would expect there is abundant wildlife throughout the park. While not on the trail, the historic 1860s woolen mill and plantation home are well worth visiting. The 6K route goes around the lake once. The 10K route continues up a gravel hill to the 19th century church and school. Pets are allowed on a leash and only on the paved trail. Pets are prohibited in the historic area.
